New Hot Wheels Batmobile

My wife collects hot wheels and was looking on hot wheels collector site and spotted this poster for the 2010. I know it is not a great picture but if you look at the third car from the end on the last row of the new models section, it looks like a Batmobile and it is in fact a Batman the Brave and the Bold Batmobile in 1/64 scale.

Mego Joker

This is my Mego 9" Joker he is in pretty good shape. But as you can see he is missing his shoes and costume needs a little repair but other than that he is good. I am quite please with this one.

Super Powers Batmobile

Here is my Super Powers Batmobile with Batman and Robin. These are in alot better shape. These are from the 1980's.

MEGO POCKET HERO’S

I was digging in one of my many boxes of Batman items and found these and I thought I would share them with you. They are Mego Batman and Robin pocket figures from the late 1970’s; these particular ones were made in 1979. As you they are a little worn or “played with condition”, but not too bad considering they are thirty years old. They are some what rare, even in this condition they can go for upwards of forty dollars on EBay. Still in they package they are really rare and they can fetch ten times that.
It is hard to say if they are complete, some times these figures were packaged with a moulded rope coil and batarang and some times they were packaged with out them and as far as I can see there was no particular reason for this other than sometimes they did and sometimes they did not. I have to say I really like the older stuff from a nostalgic angel many of these items I had when I was young. Don’t get me wrong the quality of most of the newer stuff is way better really there is no comparison in that sense. But with the items from the 60’s and 70’s and even 80’s I almost feel like I am preserving my own little part of Batman history, the toy part anyway.

Batman The Brave and the Bold Batmobile

My son wanted me to post some pictures of his Batmobile that I gave him for Christmas. He really likes"that it can transform to a Batjet",his one complaint is that it did not come with Gorilla Grodd. I kind of like it as well, I sorry I did not pick one up for my self.

ACTION FIGURES

I got a bit of a pleasant surprise today. A friend from work who I have been trading stuff back and forth with gave me a Showcase presents Batgirl packaged and a loose Batman from the JLA boxed set.

ROAD TRIP

I am going to have a little adventure next week. I am getting on a tour of a local distributor and a few Comic shops in the big city. I am on a quest for some 1/50 scale Batmobiles. I am not really confident I will find them but it will still be fun to get out for the day. Just like back in the day playing hooky with my buddy running around the big city looking for the sh*t.

DC Direct Batmen

I decided to put out some of my smaller DC direct figures, Just some of them, I still have a few more Batmans packed away and quite a few of the rogues gallery. I think I still need a few more, Batgirl and Robin are a little underrepresented.

Batgirl

Big surprise I got the 13” DC Direct Batgirl a wile back actually. Even bigger surprise is it is the variant version. I have not taken her out of the box yet but so far she looks pretty good. The head sculpt is good and in scale with the rest of the body. The eyes kind of have that surprised look that the Catwoman figure has. Like I said it is the variant and has the rooted hair which is a nice touch. The costume well done it is the black and yellow outfit. She has three sets of hand fists, gesturing and grasping hands the look a little small but forgivable. As for accessory’s she has the standered stand, a folding batarang which in my opinion looks a little big especially for her small hands, there is a grappling hook with a length of string which does not look right it, because it is packed wrapped around the grappling hook and when you un wined the string the kinks remain and it does not sit right. Then there is the “batpurse”. I don’t know if it really counts as an accessory instead of it coming pre attached to the belt it is packed in a compartment in the box. Over all I think it is a good addition to my collection.

ACTION FIGURES

I have been looking at my DC direct 13” figures, I know they are not perfect but I really like them. I know there are coming out with a couple of new ones; there is the Poison Ivey and a new Catwoman, nether of which I am really crazy about, though I will in all likelihood get the Catwoman maybe Ivy as well. I am really hoping the do some more because there are a few figures I would really like to see in 13”. I would really like a Dark Knight Returns Batman, Knight Fall Batman, The Batman from the show of the same name and Tim Drake Robin. How about a Riddler? He is really under represented in my collection. I just hope they keep them coming.

BATMAN 1966 MOVIE
I have also picked up the 1966 Batman movie for us to watch together. It was a blast to watch with him he was so into it, everything was new and exciting for him. I then realised I am turning him into a bit of a nerd, If you remember the movie during the opening credits there was a sort of searchlight effect and it would highlight a characters and he named all the big ones Batman, Robin, Joker, Penguin, Riddler, and Catwoman. The searchlight sort of chases this guy dressed in a trench coat and fedora so my son asks who it is, I tell him I don’t know so my four year old asks if it is The Question…..and no he did not mean the Riddler he meant The Question as in Vic Sage The Question. I had recently picked up the DCU novel Hell town by Dennis O'Neil which has a picture of The Question on the cover. Did I mention my son is four years old? I don’t know I thought it was pretty impressive.

BATMAN THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD

I have given Batman the Brave and the Bold another look. I rented the first four episodes to watch with my son. He is getting more interested in Batman and he seemed to enjoy it, I liked it as well.

DF

Hot Toys Two Face

Well I did get my Hot Toys Two Face, for my birthday no less. I must admit he is creepy looking! Don’t get me wrong it is a great figure it’s just that with two young children I can’t really display him right now even if I did have the room. I am really pleased you could say it is a dream come true, I remember seeing the HT Batman figure and thinking I will never have one of those, which is kind of true although I did end up getting a MEDICOM Batman begins figure which I traded big for( totally worth it I might add.). But now I have four HT TDK figures.

BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES

I picked up the first season of the animated series, I watched the first two episodes with my four year old son and I have to say, it rocked! I watched it when it first aired a bit and enjoyed it but I did not follow it religiously. It is just my opinion but it does not seem dated, the animation is crisp, stories well written, voice acting\characterization is spot on. I am feeling kind of silly droning on about essentially a show that has been around for, 18 years? But man it is a really good show. I know a lot of people were not crazy about the 2006 The Batman series which I do like a lot, But Batman the animated series I love. Great show!
