BATMOBILES MODELS

Another project I have on the back burner is restoring a 1990s Kenner animated series Batmobile. I picked it up cheap a long time ago but part of the bumper was broken I have it taken apart and all the things I need to fix it but have not had the time or space to finish the project. Same goes for my Corgi Batmobile I have all the parts I had everything repainted and ready to go I hit a snag when I went to screw in the screws and I had not drilled the holes deep enough, so when I re-drilled the holes the heat bubbled the paint and I have to strip it down and repaint it again.

ACTION FIGURES

Wile on the subject of unfinished projects not least of which is the basement its self. But I also have a few custom action figures I want to finish there is a Red Robin action figure I started a wile ago, and there is a Red Hood Jason Todd figure I have in the planning stages I would really like to do. But again more need time and need more space.

DF

Models

I am kind of excited with all the new Batman models that have been coming out lately. I have wanted to get back into building and paint models. I still have a few unfinished, notably the old Aurora Batboat and the Johnny Lighting Batmobile I sent out to be painted. I just need to find the time, the space to work and the space to display them when they are done.

DF

Alex Ross 13” Batman

I pre-ordered the Alex Ross 13” Batman figure a long time ago it was supposed to be coming in December but it is still not released yet. I am now having second thoughts, I mean I still would love to have it but I really don’t have the room and it is kind of expensive. I think I may cancel my pre-order and hopefully pick it up at a later date.

HOT TOYS SCARECROW

So I just found out that the new Hot Toys Batman Figures, the demon Batman and the Scarecrow are only available in Asia . I guess I did not realize that. I also did not know that they were a box set. I kind of wanted the Scarecrow, but now I really want it! I thought I would be able to maybe pick it up at a show for cheap one day but I guess that is not going to happen.

THE BATMAN BATMOBILE

I picked up my The Batman 2011 Batmobile. Actually I picked up four, I know that is kind of jerky but I needed to give one for each of my sons then two for me,one to open the other to keep in the package. This is one of my favorite Batmobiles I always feel like that it dose not get enough love,it looks good but they all seem to have the same flaw it looks like the paint on on one side is warn off or is to thin.

Heroclix

Okay so I picked up the heroclix Arkham escape set after all. It looks pretty cool the one difference between the one pictured I see is it comes with Two Face instead of the Joker. Now I am starting to obsess a little because now I want some more figures, I guess I will wait till the next show and see what I can pick up on the cheap.

ACTION FIGURE

Kind of an impulse buy I picked up a Batman the Brave and the Bold pop gun Joker figure. I saw him at a show a wile ago foe $25 which I thought was way past steep. But I found him at Toys r us for a fraction of that so though way not.

HOT TOYS FIGURES

Good news and Bad new with the Hot Toys Figures. There was rumor that they were going to do Batman 89 figures so the bad news is the did not. The are doing the Bat-demon and Scarecrow from Batman Begins. The good news is I don't have to figure out where I am going to scrounge up the cash to pick these figures up. I am not all that interested. No interest in the Bat-demon, I would not mind the Scarecrow if I can pick him up in a year or so at a big discount.

BATMAN GAMES

Wile at Zellers a saw the Batman hero clicks Arkham asylum set, I actually had these in my hand and was seriously thinking about picking them up. They look pretty cool and it is not a bad price, but I have to think about it. I am not sure what I would do with it right now. The “booster sets” look good too but they did not have any of those. I don’t know I have to think about it some more.

BATMOBILES

I stumbled upon a bunch of 1/50 scale Batmobiles at Zellers the other day. I had all but given up on finding them ever. I got the 1966 penguin Batmobile, the Batpod, 60’s Batboat, and the Batman returns Batboat. I will get some photos up when I get some tiem.

Sequart Research & Literacy Organization’s Gotham City 14 Miles: 14 Essays on Why the 1960s TV Series Matters is now available for order through comic shops (use Diamond order code OCT101262). The book, edited by Jim Beard, is currently listed in the books section of October’s Previews catalog (page 332) and is set to hit stores in late December.

Gotham City 14 Miles offers 14 essays that examine the equally celebrated and derided show from varied, sometimes surprising viewpoints:

*Bats in Their Belfries: The Proliferation of Batmania, by Robert Greenberger. (Covers the genesis of the show and explosion of Batmania.)
*Batman: From Comics Page to TV Screen, by Peter Sanderson. (Delves into Batman’s comic-book roots.)
*Such a Character: A Dissection and Examination of Two Sub-Species of Chiroptera homo sapiens, by Jim Beard. (Compares / contrasts the 1939 Batman with Adam West’s.)
*Notes on Bat-Camp, by Tim Callahan. (An effort to answer that age-old question, “Was Batman truly camp?”)
*Aunt Harriet’s Film Decency League, by Becky Beard. (Weighs the caliber of the show’s most significant guest stars.)
*POW!: Batman’s Visual Punch, by Bill Walko. (Looks into the impact of the show’s visual design.)
*Known Super-Criminals Still at Large, by Chuck Dixon. (Compares / contrasts TV versions with comic-book portrayals.)
*May I Have This Batdance? by Michael S. Miller. (Looks at the most famous TV theme and the songs it inspired.)
*The Best Dressed Women in Gotham City, by Jennifer K. Stuller. (A compelling argument for its female denizens and their place in Batman.)
*Holy Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor! by Michael D. Hamersky. (Addresses the topic of youth culture as presented in Batman.)
*Gotham City R&D, by Michael Johnson. (Examines Batman’s gadgetry.)
*Theatre of the Absurd: Batman: The Movie, by Rob Weiner. (Discusses the 1966 feature film.)
*Jumping the Bat-Shark, by Will Murray. (Delves into the third season of Batman.)
*Some Days You Just Can’t Get Rid of a Bomb, by Paul Kupperberg. (The show’s legacy beyond its original broadcast.)
*Afterword, by Jeff Rovin, co-author of Adam West’s Back to the Batcave. (Offers a few personal anecdotes about the show and working with West.)
*Episode Guide, by Joe Berenato. (A rundown of episodes with airdates and fun facts.)

Don’t miss out on this critical discussion of one of the most influential yet misunderstood TV shows of all time. (Softcover, 6”x9”, 300 pgs, B&W, $22.95 cover price, ISBN 9780578064611.)

Batmobile

Round 2 is putting out a new 1966 Batmobile this time in 1/25 scale. I totally need this one, I also use the 1/32 scale which I have not found yet. I think I would actually want this one more than the 1/32 scale one if I had to choose, hopefully I will not have to choose and I can get both.

BATMOBILE

Picked up another Batmobile today. I finally got my 1/64 scale Brave and the Bold Hot Wheels Batmobile! They have finally made there way up north. Not much to say about it other than it is......awesome!It is a little smaller than I expected but that is only an observation not a criticism. Bottom is plastic and other than the wheels no moving parts. I looks pretty accurate to me I would give it 11 thumbs up! I will get some pictures up when I get a minute. The Canadian packaging lists this as 49/52 I believe the US packaging has it as 42/44.

BATMOBILE

I finally did send my Johnny Lighting 1960's Batmobile off to be painted and it is in the process of being painted now. If I have not told the story before I had a Johnny Lighting 1960's Batmobile it is die cast metal and I stripped off the black paint then repainted it blue with a black hood, I did this something like 5 times multiple coats. Anyway it would end up with a scratch or the color was not quite right. So my brother who lives in Australia who is a professional has is own company and paints appliances has agreed to paint it for me. So I kind of get bragging rights that I had it sent to Australia to be painted professionally.

BATMOBILE

Picked up a new Batmobile the other day, I got the Hot Wheels "Tuner" Tumbler. I know it is not really canon but it is still a Batmobile and kind of cool. If I decide to open it my sons will have fun with it…Okay I will have fun too.

BATMOBILE

I have been a little lax in keeping up my post for bit. I have not been adding anything to my collection in anticipation of FANEXPO. But I am still make my weekly scouting trips to looking for the Hot Wheels 1/64 Brave and the Bold Batmobile which has not shown up in stores up here yet. But I did hear about them releasing a color changing Hot Wheels 1/64 Batmobile so there is another one I have to kep my eye out for.

BATMOBILE

My friend got me a Hot Wheels 1/50 scale camouflage Tumbler! It is pretty cool and very nice of him. It will make a welcome addition to my collection. It kind of makes up for my pre-order for the Retro like MEGO figures I decided to cancel, a little bit anyway.

Mego style Batman and Two Face

It pains me a little but I have cancelled my pre-order for my retro Mego style Batman and Two Face but I think it is the logical decision. I can’t really afford it right now and I do have FANEXPO coming up and I should really save my money, who knows I may see them there and get a better price. Still makes me a little sad though.

DF

Batman Brave and the Bold Batmobile

I received news from my Hot Wheels connection that the Batman Brave and the Bold 1/64th scale Batmobile is coming soon and should be on the shelves by the end of July I am sure that is in the US but I will start looking then for mine just in case. I will also need to get a few of them one or two for my self then I will need two more, one for each of my sons.

FANEXPO

I don’t know if I mentioned it or not but I am quite excited about FANEXPO, why you ask. Well let me see Adam West, Burt Ward, Julie Newmar, Gary Frank, Andy Kubert, Brian Azzarello, the 1966 Batmobile and Batcycle for starters. Then on top of all that you have over 600 retailers and if that’s not enough to give you a nerdgasm then you should probably check your pulse.

DF

FANEXPO

I have not made any purchases lately I am trying to avoid even looking, I am not going to my favourite online retailer and I am not making any toy hunting trips. I know there will be a greater selection and better prices at FANEXPO. I am kind of hoping for maybe some Black and White Batman statues maybe some Eaglemoss figures at a good price I have a few action figure wants which I posted earlier. I may also try and get some Batman sketches from my favourite Batman artists. We shall see, I don’t want to wish my whole summer away but I am so looking forward to FANEXPO.

DF

BATCAVE

It has been a wile since I have had anything to post about. I am getting closer to getting the Batcave project finished, I mean I am not finished but I am one step closer. I am really hoping I can get it done by say October or November. I don’t know if I can but I will try. The plan is no Christmas presents for the olds just the kids then come Boxing Day…50+ inch plasma and a PS3! I am looking at the space and I am thinking two more glass cases will fit in one alcove I think I may have to share them though. I will then have shelves running down the rest of the length of the wall which will pretty much be all batman stuff. I will need some wall space for autographs and pictures and such. And I also have some non-batman that I am not sure what I am going to do with. I have a quite a few 1/6 military figures and a large Simpson’s collection. The Simpson’s stuff I have kind of lost interest in but the Military figures I would have a hard time parting with.

Retro Mego like figures

I had the same “discussion” again with a friend about the new retro Mego like figures. He was having a whinge about how the should not have tried to improve them and they should have just made exact copies of the originals. So let me get this straight; they look to good? They don’t look goofy enough? To which I replied if I wanted an original 1970’s Mego Batman I would buy one which I do and I did; but good luck finding a 1970’s Mego Two Face (since the never made one). I mean for all intents and purposes these are bigger production customs. If you don’t like it don’t buy it and don’t knock me for liking them or buying them.

COLLECTION

It’s been a little wile since I have had anything to post. No new acquisitions other that the Jim Lee lithograph. As I have mentioned before most of my collection is packed away right now and I only have a small portion of the collection out. But I change out some stuff, I might move stuff around in the case dust them off a bit; I also have a few items in other places around the house. I look at them every day at least twice a day sometimes more. I can’t explain the feeling I get from it; the joy my collection brings me, I know to some people don’t “get it” or think it’s kind of weird; but I can’t be the only one on the planet that feels this way about a hobby. I have been asked a few time by different people what I am going to do with all this stuff; my answer is I am going to enjoy it.

12" MEGO BATMAN

I got my Mego 12” Batman the ohter today. I have to admit I am a little disappointed, the box is in vary bad shape not bad enough to back out of the deal though. I figured that I quite literally paid nothing for it and the figure is minty mint and I thought when I am I ever going to come across another one.

Red Robin

DC Universe is at wave 15 and no Red Robin yet, what up with that? I do not have one Red Robin figure in my collection. Not that there are many out there, just one to my knowledge but I would like to have I just don’t want to pay through the nose for one.

Mego 12" Batman

Okay someone up there hates me! I had just got finished thinking to my self that I had made all my big Batman purchases for the year at least till FANEXPO and now I have a line on a 12” Mego Batman in box. How can I pass that up? The good news is he wants to trade the bad news is I don’t know how I am going to scrape up enough stuff to make an even trade. I mean it kind of is the Granddaddy of Batman figures “mint” in box at that and that is kind of a big deal. But again where am I going to put it? But on the other hand when am I ever going to find another one that I could afford? I will do some digging tonight and see what I can come up with.

DF

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Well I am keeping the Eaglemoss Batman and am going to try and repair it. Job one is strip the paint which I will try and do this week. I am hoping it will be pretty straight forward. Once that is done I will try and fix the “ears” using two part putty. This should be simple but they are quite small and I am fairly new to sculpting, not that it will take mad sculpting skills but getting them the right size and position and getting them both the same size and position will be the “hard” part. I am thinking of going with the smaller Andy Kubert version. The painting will be the real easy part and the part I am most looking forward to. I figure since I pretty much have to paint the whole thing I am going to go with the blue and grey then if one day I find and undamaged Batman they will at least be different.
