Batman the Brave and the Bold

I had a proud moment the other day as a father and as a Batman fan. My four year old asked me for the Batman the brave and the bold Batmobile. He asked for it by name and started talking about Gorilla Gorod. I did not realize he had seen the commercial and was really impressed that he knew about it. So needless to say I went out on Friday and got him about $150.00 worth of Batman the brave and the bold toys for Christmas and am on the way out now to see if I can rent the DVDs.

"New" Batmobile model.

I am personally really excite about this, Round 2 is re-releasing the old Aurora 1/32 1966 batmobile. They have three different packaging versions one standard, one with the original release box art and a collector version in a tin box. I think I may get all of them.

I have not made many purchases lately, I got Batman Arkham but I got it in a trade and the Mego Joker as well. The last thing I actually did
buy was the light up Batmobile from The Batman seres. It is in good shape and only cost me two bucks.

Batman Arkham Asylum

Okay, I have not posted for a wile. I have not had a lot to post about. I ended up not buying anything at FANEXPO. I did get Batman Arkham Asylum. GREATEST GAME EVER!!!! I have passed it in storey mode found all the Riddlers clues and am working on the challenges. Great game maybe the best game ever. Eleven thumbs up!!

I am not buying anything right now as I am saving my money for Fan Expo next month, and I was trying to focus on older batman items anyway but Mattel is making things hard on me, first all the new 1/50 scale Batmobiles then there is the Comic con exclusive tumbler/ Batpod movie moment thing. I even kind of like the Batman the Brave and the Bold Batmobile. But must be strong Fan Expo next month.

Batman Arkham Asylum

I am soooooo looking forward to this game I am actually thinking about breaking my one video game rule and pre-ordering it. I usaly will not buy a game unless it has multi player and I won’t buy them till I have rented them first but this looks so good and it is Batman. its got be thinking and I think I may want the collectors edition which comes with extra levels and a Batarang and you know I don’t have one of those. I have been following the games progress for a wile watched all the trailers read everything looked at the screen shots and it looks awesome. I have been really excited about it then confused and bewildered about the release date. But it looks like this time the release date is set for 08/25/09 and should not change again, I hope. Arkham imho should be the best Batman game ever which actually should not be that hard since there have not been any real good Batman games about the best was Batman Begins.

Batmobiles

I see the next wave of 1/50 scale batmobiles are out even though I have yet to see the last wave in stores here. The high light for me is the Superfriends version although I want them all this is a must have for me and the camouflaged tumbler and the 89 from the last wave, oh hell they are all must have for me.

Batman apparel

I picked up a Dark Knight hat last night at Wally World. It had no price tag so I ended up getting it around seven bucks which may have been the actual price but I thought it was not a bad deal. I am always looking for new Batman apparel mostly hats right now as I am a bit over weight. A over weight batman fan I hear you gasp, yes it is true but I am in the processes of losing some mostly for health reasons but it would be nice to get a Batman shirt that does not double as a muumuu.

Bank robber Joker

I finally cleared a space in my cabinet and took my bank robber Joker out of the box. I kept think it was a waist to have him backed away when he is such an awesome figure. I have not completely decided how to set him up yet but I think he looks pretty good for now.

Batcopter

I had an idea for another project. (Like I have the time for another one.) I have a 21st century 1/6 Police Helicopter I was not sure what to do with so I thought it looks a bit like the Cori Batcopter. I think I will do stylized batwing decals on the rotors as apposed to the bright orange batwing shaped rotors on the Corgi toy. I think it will be pretty easy to make it look pretty cool. Now I need the time and space to work on it and the space to put it when I am finished.

Collection

Well I packed away even more of my Batman stuff. As I said before I am in the process of finishing my basement I have a glass display case which for space and safety reasons I have it in my bedroom and it was almost literally packed full there was stuff laying on other stuff. Anyway I put the majority of it in a bin dusted every thing off. Put a few of my favourites and the more delicate ones back in the glass case. I accomplished two things one I got everything cleaned up and organized but I also made room for my…. Hot Toys Joker and Dark Knight Batman, I have been chomping on the bit to get them out of the box and have a really good look at them. They are truly great figures I have to stop and look at them every time I pass by. I know as a collector you are never satisfied; you always need just one more item to make your collection complete and of coarse it will never be complete. Anyway with these figures I am content for a wile anyway even if I don’t make another purchase for a year or two I am content.

Action Figures

Thought I would share my latest score. I got a few “new” Mego figures today in a trade, a 12” magnetic Batman and an 8” Penguin. The Batman is in pretty good shape His cape is a little frayed on the edges a bit of a run in his suit on one knee and he is missing one gauntlet but other that he is in fairly good shape for his age better shape than me anyway. The Penguin is a little rougher shape though missing his shoes and his jacket is quite frayed but again not bad for his age. I am really please. Wile I am on the subject, anyone happen to have any Mego parts for sale or trade? Like maybe a 12” magnetic Batman gauntlet and a pair of shoes for an 8” Mego Penguin actually I am also looking for a cape for a 8” Mego Batman too.

Collection

I decided to start this blog document my collection. My family and friends are most likely sick of hearing about it so I turned to the internet mainly for my self but if others find it interesting that is cool too. I have a fairly large collection of Batman and Batman related items. I have approximately 140 Batmobiles I say approximately because I lost count at 118 and that was about 2 years ago I also have about 50 or so batman figures and 300 or so comics and a handful of other items autographs and pictures and such. I am in the process of finishing my basement and with the arrival of my second son I lost my “office” so as a result the majority of my collection is in storage.

Hot Toys Jokers

I never really knew the depth of my madness till I was actually holding the boxes containing my Hot toys Jokers, My hobby has graduated from diversion to full blown obsession. I consider these figures to be the pinnicle, the absolute apex, the jewel in the crown, to paraphrase another Joker’s tag line “I don’t know if its art but I like it.” Since I first started collecting 1/6 from the vary beginning Hot Toys was the top of the scale. I use to obsess over the HT SAS HALO jumper; I actually had one in my hand once and thought I will never own one of these. I was right I never did. It was this almost unattainable goal a treasured item. I guess my point is I see people on the boards and not that I am picking on anyone; certainly not anyone here. But you see posts on the boards about a new figure coming out and there is a fevered excitement, everyone’s pumped and drooling and gushing about how great it is and a number will say they are going to pre-order it right away. Then someone gets theirs and posts a few shots “Here look what I got” it almost seems like they show it to you shrug then toss it over there shoulder on to a pile behind them. I know that it is not really the case or not always really the case. I just kind of think where’s the jumping for joy where is the shouting from the roof tops? I know that sometimes I am a little child like, okay most of the time I am a lot child like and so maybe I get a little over excited about a new acquisition so consider this my shouting from the roof tops.
